Sometimes, we can’t avoid getting blood on the carpet. Accidents happen, and when they do, you must know what to do so the pigment of the blood doesn’t linger on your carpet. Knowing how to get blood out of the carpet will ensure that your carpet isn’t permanently stained even after there has been blood on it. How to remove blood from the carpet?

How Does Vinegar Remove Blood from Carpet? How do you get blood out of the carpet using vinegar?

The first thing that you should do is to blot the affected area properly. Blotting is the process of absorbing as much of a liquid as possible from a spot and using clean paper towels.

Also, it is improper to rub the affected area. Rubbing will only make the staining worse. Rubbing will spread the blood and the associated pigments in the blood. You will end up increasing the stained area, even more, making clean up even more difficult.

Rubbing also increases the likelihood of deeper absorption into the carpet, until the fibers become fully soaked and the blood reaches the backing of the carpet. The backing is the though bottom layer of carpets where the fibers are glued. If blood reaches this side of the carpet, cleaning will become even more intensive.

After the initial blotting, wet vacuum the area for a few minutes and then apply some paper towels for additional blotting. This time, place some weight over the paper towels to ensure that they get as much blood and dirt. Paper towels have excellent wicking properties, which should work, especially if there is a fair amount of blood staining the carpet.

After cleaning, you may notice some light brown spots where most of the blood spilled. Apply a vinegar solution next. Combine one cup of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar with one cup of warm water.

Apply this liquid to the area and then blot out again with lots of paper towels. Check if the stain has faded. If not, apply more vinegar solution and blot once more with paper towels. Do this repeatedly until the stain fades completely.

If you have performed all the steps, and there is still a fair amount of staining left on the carpet, you may need to have it professionally cleaned.

How Does Baking Soda Remove Blood Carpet? How to clean blood from the carpet using baking soda?

Baking soda is a powerful all-around cleaner. If vinegar is not enough, you may turn to a more powerful cleaning solution with baking soda.

We have already outlined what must be done immediately after the staining occurs. Remember the basics: use plenty of paper towels to blot the fresh blood from the carpet. Don’t rub, because you will likely just spread all of that blood across a bigger surface.

When you have performed the final blotting after some wet vacuuming, it’s time to apply the advanced cleaning solution. Combine three tablespoons of baking soda, two cups of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar and one cup of warm water.

If the staining is somewhat extreme, feel free to reduce the amount of water by half to form a slurry-like consistency. Don’t worry – these are cleaning agents, they won’t stain your carpet, and no matter how thick or potent they might be, they will leave your carpet in a better condition than before the cleaning.

Pour the baking soda solution into a spray bottle and shake everything well. Apply the cleaning solution to the area. Get an old brush or toothbrush and work in the cleaning solution to get rid of the dried bloodstain.

Spray some more of the solution and continue cleaning. Wet vacuum the area again and blot out all the moisture.

Check if any staining remains. Repeat the process until the staining is barely visible. This might take a while, and it might be frustrating to some people, but we can assure you that the baking soda and vinegar combo will work like a charm.

Wet-vacuuming is necessary to remove the odor of the vinegar, but this will eventually fade from the fabric even if you allow the solution to linger and dry up on the carpet. Like we said, cleaning agents are fine on the carpet, especially the natural ones.

Does Salt Get Blood Out Carpet? How to clean blood from carpet with salt?

We’re not kidding when we say that salt is probably the first-ever cleaning agent in the world.

It works, and it can even work to remove blood stains from carpeting. Let’s say that the staining took place, but you don’t have a drop of anything else in the house. Just salt and water. What do you do? Well, you use the salt and hope it works!

Combine lots of salt and a little bit of water in the bowl. Perform the necessary adjustments to end up with a past that you can spread over the affected area. The paste should have a consistent consistency, but not too liquid. Allow the salt paste to work on the affected area for approximately five minutes. Please take note that you need to blot the area properly first and wet vacuum it before you try this trick.

After five minutes, brush the area thoroughly and wet vacuum again. Repeat until the stain is completely gone.

Will OxiClean Get Blood Out of Carpet?

OxiClean may be used for spot-cleaning bloodstains. Scoop out approximately one line of OxiClean and combine it with sixteen ounces of water.

Apply this solution to the affected area. The area has to be saturated, but not overly, so that much of the solution spreads to other parts of the carpet. Allow the solution to stay for about five minutes. Wet-vacuum your carpet and use generous amounts of paper towels for the final blotting. Repeat if necessary.
